The GLF tee is a representation of the original banner created by the Gay Liberation Front. In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, this years Upward Yoni tee is inspired by a photo taken by Bob Adelman, the infamous American photographer reknowed for his work during the Civil Rights Movement during the 1960's. His photo, which captures a protest at Columbia University in 1969, is as historical as it is empowering of the LGBTQ+ community. The Gay Liberation Front was an activist group in New York City, initiated as an outcome of the Stonewall Riots the same year the photo was taken. This iconic group was most known for their organized demonstrations on behalf of gays and lesbians as a foundation of the Gay Right's Movement in the United States. The GLF was known as a radical group of young members of LGBTQ+ with New Leftist political views. Among some of their beliefs as an organization, reforming societal norms by redefining the American family as well as advocating for sexual liberation were of the most important. As defined by their newsletter in 1970,
"The Gay Liberation Front is a militant coalition of radical and revolutionary homosexual men and women committed to fight the oppression of the homosexual as a minority group and to demand the right to the self-determination of our own bodies." -Gay Liberation Front Newsletter, February of 1970
